To the Beach!

We have had such a wonderful past few weeks filled with family and amazing achievements. We loved being with our supportive families, and enjoyed spending time with everyone! Lily especially loved the butterfly exhibit at the Natural History Museum! Look at that friend on Daddy's head!

So after the hoopla of birthdays, graduation, and visitors, we took our own little vacation! This was Lily's second time to the beach. The first time she was only 3 months old and was just along for the ride. This time it was a different story! She was very interested in all the happenings! She was a trooper in the car , she slept like a champ, and her eating...well, we'll just say that she ate vacation style - lots of fishy crackers, bananas, and bits and pieces of Mom and Dad's food! The ocean was a little intimidating, and cold! Lily didn't really like the sand and stayed well protected on her little towel. It was a great way to keep her stationary for a few minutes! She attended her very first concert and we thought it only appropriate to break her in to the absolute best, Mr James Taylor of course! She clapped and danced throughout the first half of the concert, then she was out cold after a short stroll around the grassy hill. The concert was so great...it made us really miss our home and our family. Memories of hiking in the Uintah mountains were swimming through my mind!

So it's back home and back to real life! Just eating fishy crackers and hanging out with Dad. Real life is pretty dang good.

You say it's your birthday....and a graduation?

Yes folks, that's right....two momentous occasions occurring in one week! Lily turned one last week and we were lucky enough to celebrate her birthday with Ryan's whole family and my Mom and Dad. It was a blast and she was a trooper. Opening gifts, hitting a pinata, eating a beautiful ladybug cake :), and eating pizza can be very exhausting! Overall, she won't remember a thing, but we had fun and the cake was a blast to make and even more fun to just look at! Maybe I'll switch professions...ha ha!

Occassion number two....drumroll please.....Ryan officially became a doctor on Saturday! Graduation was so wonderful, and again we were so blessed to have so many family members here with us to celebrate. The ceremony was so incredible, and it was quite emotional thinking about everything Ryan has accomplished, and all that is ahead! We will be staying put for the next seven years as he begins to really live his dream! He will begin his residency in July, so it will be good-bye Sweetie for a while. I'm kidding, I don't think it will be that bad! We are so proud of you Ryan and wish to thank you for taking us along for the ride! It's off to bigger and better things now, Dr. Roberts! Yeah!

Happy Mother'sDay....Lily is almost one!

Officially my first Mother's Day was last year when Lily was one day old, but this year I feel a little more like I know what it means to be a Mommy and boy did we celebrate today! Cute Ryan spent all morning preparing an incredible dinner. We had chilled strawberry soup, a wonderful spinach salad, and grilled salmon with potatoes and creamed corn. Hello!!! I have the greatest husband ever.

Tomorrow is the day! Lily's first birthday. We can not believe that this day is here. Especially since this time also marks Ryan's graduation from medical school. These past four years have flown by! We can't believe how fast things have gone. We have had so many memorable highlights these past four years, Amy's first "real world" job, the Macey's Thanksgiving Day Parade, surviving Lyme Disease buying our first home, taking a trip to Hawaii, and of course bringing Lily into this world! We wanted to share a few pictures of some of our memories over the last four years, so enjoy!

Temple Trip

Well, Spring has finally arrived here, which means for one day we had beautiful weather, the next day downpour, then the next few days, more beautiful weather! We took advantage of the warm weather and took Lily to see the DC temple. She is walking more and more and is so darn cute when she wobbles around on those cute little legs! She loved the beautiful flowers and wanted to pick them and eat them which we explained was probably not the best idea. We are so blessed to live near this wonderful temple. We are happy to have the warm weather back and we hope it is here to stay!

After our temple trip, Mommy and Lily stayed the in car and were a little goofy while Daddy got some Slurpees! You know summer is on the horizon when Slurpees quench your thirst. Lily looked very stylin in Mommy's glasses....she is fascinated with glasses and loves to take them off people and put them on herself. So cute! Anyway, until next weekend, we wish you all a wonderful week!

Cherry Blossoms, Mowing, and the Park!

Let us catch you up on the last three weekends! Three weeks ago Mommy had Spring Break and was home all day, every day, with Lily. We went to the park, went out to lunch, did a little shopping...it was wonderful! We ventured in the sunny yet freezing cold weather to the cherry blossom festival! Unfortunately, we didn't get any close up pictures (thanks to modern technology and camera batteries that die all too soon), but we did see them and they were beautiful!

Last weekend and this weekend we stayed near home to get ready for Grandpa's visit (which means Ryan mowed the lawn and cleaned up the yard!). It was so fun to watch Lily become mezmorized with the lawn mower. She literally sat and watched Daddy mow the entire front and back yard! Talk about an attention span. Daddy hopes she learned a lot so that soon she can mow for him :)

Today we tried to have a picnic in the park. Note: 11 month olds(yes Lily is 11 months today!) do not eat well off of a picnic blanket! There was too much going on for the little one to focus on eating. We took her over to the playground and she had her first swing experience. The pictures tell all! She absolutely loved it! There isn't anything much more precious than the excitement we saw on our little one's face tonight. Thank you for the reminder to live in the moment Lily! We love you!

Hoppy, Happy Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter, and yes the Easter Bunny visited our house! Lily was quite excited about the family Easter basket. She loved taking everything out and then putting everything back in...over and over and over! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Roberts for the darling bunny and cookie cutters, and thank you Grandma and Grandpa Nielsen for the beautiful Easter outfit from Italy! It finally fits, and Lily looked so darling in it. Thank you also to the cute Jergensen fam for the darling chickie card! We loved it!

This past weekend, Dad was on call and sleeping all day Saturday, so Lily and Mommy went to Brookside Gardens. It is a beautiful place to stroll along and they have a wonderful conservatory with beautiful flowers! It was a rainy day and the smell of fresh flowers was just what we needed! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Two Weekends with Family

Where has the time gone??? Two weekends have flown by, and we are behind on our updating. So, two weeks ago, we headed into town and had the glorious opportunity of meeting up with Uncle Tom and cousin Laura! We took a pleasant stroll around tow, in the car however and pretty much solved the world's problems in those ten minutes! It was great to see our family and we only wished we could have spent more time with you two!

After our quick visit, we drove up to the Capitol hill area and walked through Eastern Market. Lily loved looking at all of the meats, cheeses, flowers, cookies, etc. etc. After a little walk around the neighborhood, we stopped for some treats at Marvelous Market and then headed home! It was a nice little weekend, and we loved seeing Tom and Laura!

Following our weekend, we received some sad news from Ryan's family that our sweet Grandma Roberts had passed away. She was 93 years old and we will miss her greatly. Ryan and I had many fun memories visiting her when we all lived in downtown SLC. So, thanks to our wonderful family, we were able to visit Utah for the weekend to attend her funeral. It was wonderful to see everyone and Lily loved to be with so many who love her. The funeral service was so beautiful and we were able to drive up to Smithfield Utah near Logan where Grandma was born. She was buried there on a snowy Saturday. Lily was such a trooper and Ryan and I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family, and an incredible little baby!
After a wonderful visit with our amazing family Lily got her first piano lesson from Grandma Suzi. Thank you Grandma! We miss you all already and miss those beautiful mountains! Until next week, be well everyone!
